For good management of soft tissue injuries, RICE is old news, the new thinking is PEACE and LOVE.
I’m looking forward to applying this advice at the British Universities, Big Wednesday taking place in March this year.
1 day, 15 sports, battling for the Universities championships titles in Nottingham. After having taken a little break from pitch side sports cover, it will be refreshing to go back to my physio roots by providing physio cover for Rugby at this event. This is where the action happens, the pressure to make important decisions quickly, stay calm, and understand which injuries to patch back up for continued play, and which ones to pull off the field.
My recommendation: get early advice for optimal healing and consider getting physiotherapy if its is not spontaneously recovering after 2-3 weeks for minor injuries, and sooner for more significant injuries.
