FAQ: What’s the difference between normal Pilates and Physio Clinical Pilates?
Not every Pilates exercise is right for everyone, as our bodies, our weaknesses, and our biomechanics are all different and some Pilates exercises make problems worse rather than better. Clinical Pilates is much more specific as it takes into consideration the medical (anatomical) factors. So it’s tailored, individualised exercise, and may use either your own body weight, equipment for strength and stretch training. Your exercise selection is based on clinical assessment and your medical history.
May suit people who have attended a pilates class which made them worse. Often the problem is that the exercise was not pitched at the correct level for the level of sensitivity of the condition.
The clinical sessions also ensure that the sequence in which you contract your muscles is correct, to minimise strain.
