Mayesbrook park
16 July. Outdoor Olympic 2012 Track and Field training venue
First day that medical services are available to athletes. Its been raining almost every day of July and quite heavily today. Unsurprisingly, no athletes turn up at this out doors training venue. Slipping in the rain could be a tragic accident pre-games, one to be avoided! I spend the day setting up the first aid/physio room, sorting through crates of physio supplies and putting together the medical trolley.
Olympic stadium
July 26 & 27 July. The atmosphere in the Olympic Park is fantastic and colourful with the athletes wearing their various national colours. I was at the warm up track where the athletes are training. They are not yet allowed to use the stadium because its being set up for the opening ceremony and looks more like a theatrical stage set than an athletics venue. The physios had to chip in to help with the sports massage since there was quite alot of demand for the service.

31 July, 2 August. Indoor and Outdoor Olympic 2012 Track and Field training venue
Athletes are coming to this venue to use the indoor training facilities since there have still been rainy days, and its not as crowded as the warm up track at the stadium.
My next shift will be at the stadium again on Sunday, 5th August which is a competition day. Let the action begin!
