Its a constant tug-of-war, trying to fit more into our already busy lives. Current UK adult physical activity guideline is 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise per week, according to the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines. This level of sports participation could improve health and well being and ultimately reduce chronic disease in the future. Increasing levels of activity in a patient is a proven method of autoimmune therapy as well. In general, the body greatly benefits from even occasional mild exercise in a number of ways. Getting some sun as well as the getting blood pumping is very healthy.
For children and young people (5-18 years old) physical activity guidelines:
Guideline 1: guidance is moderate to vigorous intensity exercise for at least 60 minutes and up to several hours a day, every day.
Guideline 2: vigorous intensity exercise that strengthens muscle and bone, at least 3 times a week.
