About Action Harpenden Physio
MSc, PGradDipSportsPhysio, BSc Physio (Hons).
Member of: Association of Chartered Physios in Exercise and Sports Medicine, Physio First, Association of Chartered Physiotherapists Interested in Vestibular Rehabilitation
My early career in Physiotherapy began with involvement with high level athletes in sports in 1995 with the under 21 Zimbabwe National Rugby team. During my post graduate sports training in Perth, Australia, I worked with the Western Suburbs Rugby team. Since then, my skills have extended well beyond sports injuries, using my specialist knowledge to analyse movement and perform orthopaedic tests to diagnose musculoskeletal problems, and my manual skills to apply effective treatment. I am a gold level specialist physiotherapist in Exercise and Sports Medicine, accredited by Physios in Sports, recognised by the British Olympic Association and UK Sport (high performance sport).
My advanced Sports Trauma training (pre-hospital care) equips me with the skills to manage all levels of musculoskeletal injuries, from early diagnosis, through treatment to final rehabilitation.
Around my clinic work, I provide physiotherapy cover for elite level sport. I provide physiotherapy care to the British Universities and Colleges Sports events, and the National Badminton England events. Most notably, I was physiotherapist to the European (multi sport) Games 2015, the Commonwealth Games 2014 (athletics), the London 2012 Olympics (athletics) and Olympic test events, English Badminton for 3 years, International university golf, the past four London Marathons and two All Africa Games (multi sports). As a result, I have National and International sports experience in multiple sports, from mountain biking to boxing, triathlon to taekwondo and cycling to canoeing.
On a personal level: I am passionate about two other topics:falls prevention in the elderly, which comes from my close relationship with my grandmother; and joint hypermobility.
